The al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine launches an extensive campaign to plant trees

The campaign is part of a major project adopted by the al-Abbas’s (p) Holy Shrine to plant the Karbala governorate.

Hawzah News Agency –Al-Kafeel Group of Nurseries affiliated to the Department of Service Affairs at the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine has started an extensive campaign to plant trees in Karbala schools, after it prepared a large number of seasonal and perennial trees with the aim of intensifying the vegetative cover and increasing its area, which contributes to improving its cultural and aesthetic appearance.

The campaign also aims to contribute to raising awareness among the public in general and school students in particular, of the importance of trees and plants and encouraging their cultivation and the need to take care of them, as they represent a benefit in preserving the environment and reducing the effects of pollution.

Al-Kafeel Nursery official, Mr. Ahmad 'Atiwi, stated to Al-Kafeel Network: “The campaign is part of a major project adopted by the al-Abbas’s (p) Holy Shrine to plant the Karbala governorate, which it was launched in (2011), and comes as part of its endeavors to increase the area of green spaces, reduce pollution, spread a culture of afforestation, and educate the cultivation of some trees suitable for the climate of Iraq and their propagation in schools, through the cultivation of permanent and seasonal planting in schools, in a manner that contributes to improving their cultural and aesthetic appearance. "

He pointed out that: "These efforts come within the framework of protecting the environment and providing an appropriate study environment for students, and it is one of the pillars of the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine's vision to achieve the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, in which it achieved many of its seventeen goals."

'Atiwi explained: "A plan of action for afforestation has been drawn up, after receiving the requests from the schools wishing to do so, and a timetable and spatial schedule has been set that will target these schools according to the needs of each school, and under the supervision of a specialized team from the al-Kafeel Nursery Group," calling on school administrations "to take care of the school garden and to sustain it on an ongoing basis, because of its importance in giving the school an aesthetic and healthy look.”
